May | Wrap Up

May | Wrap Up

The following are the books that I read in May. I do enjoy to read these kind of posts and I wanna do more of them in the future.

Physical books

Night Film Marisha Pessl
Pages: 797 | Rating: 5/5 | Goodreads
Thoughts: Night Film was the first book that I managed to finish for the Bout of Books 16 read-a-thon. The edition I owned was written in German. The whole elaborate world building was so fulfilling. All the facts about Cordova at the beginning really made me believe that he was a real individual. Something about it made me not capable of putting it down. I had to read on, to see what was happening. There was a constant building up of tension. I had been looking forward to this novel for a while and it was worth it.

Yotsubato Vol. 03 Kiyohiko Azuma
Pages: 192 | Rating: 3/5 | Goodreads
Thoughts: There is not too much to say about it. The style and art are cute, the story is not by any means complex or extravagant. I find that I can read them within 20 minutes and this volume was just another average but nice manga. I read this for the Bout of Books 16 read-a-thon.

How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found Doug Richmond
Pages: 107 | Rating: 1/5 | Goodreads
Thoughts: I have been waiting to purchase this book for a long time and I had such high hopes when I finally got it. But it turned out to be boring, sexist and not at all useful. Would not recommend to anyone at all, ever. This was highly disappointing.

Wind/Pinball: Two Novels  Haruki Murakami
Pages: 267 | Rating: 5/5 | Goodreads
Thoughts: This book contains the first two novels ever written by Murakami. I have previously read one of his newer works and I have enjoyed his writing so so much. Therefore I decided to pick this up from the local library. The both stories are in itself quite different in terms of style and writing. The overall feeling has stayed the same, which made it pleasant and quick. This, once again, made me want to read even more of his novels, as I know that I can enjoy them very well.

Audiobooks

The Adventure of the Empty House Arthur Conan Doyle
Length: 1 hour | Rating: 3/5 | Goodreads
Thoughts: I have always had a thing for Holmes. So this was a lovely distraction for an hour. It didn’t quite stay with me too well, however, since I don’t usually listen to audiobooks.

I am quite satisfied with this total of five books that I’ve read. Overall, this makes a bit more than 1000 read pages.
