Love Looks Pretty on You is the first of Lang Leav’s creations that I’ve read. In exchange for an honest review I received this eARC from Andrews McMeel Publishing on NetGalley. Thank you very much!
In 2018, I enjoyed more contemporary poetry than in any year before. With the focus on so many admirable poetry collections, I just couldn’t resist Love Looks Pretty on You, especially not with its fine cover.
Lang Leav’s writing style was somewhat different to what I had imagined it to be, with the poems being much more raw than I had anticipated. Most of the poems I loved, only very few didn’t quite touch me.
With me being such a hopeless romantic, excessively appreciating love, over-the-top annoyingly sentimental at times, I felt so understood in some poems, and one or two even made me shed a tear. Overall my adoration was clearly to be expected, as this collection also presented itself with subtle, yet unapologetically feminist themes. I felt inspired, a little broken and yet full of love. ★★★★☆
